Why we’re getting behind Martin Brockman and London 2012.

We are delighted to announce that we are now supporting local athlete, Martin Brockman, as he attempts to qualify at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Following the appointment of BMW Group as the Official Automotive Partner of the 2012 Games, BMW is now actively supporting British athletes, such as Ellie Simmonds and Louis Smith, via the BMW London 2012 Performance Team. Meanwhile, in line with the Performance Team initiative, BMW dealers like us will be working with local athletes, supporting their endeavours to qualify for Team GB or ParalympicsGB.

Martin Brockman trains locally to our dealership. His career highlights to date include a fifth place at the 2008 Combined Event International Decathlon, a silver medal at the 2009 National Championships and Team GB selection for the Decathlon at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, where he won a bronze medal.

“I’m really grateful to Arden Maidstone and BMW for their support,” said Martin. “It’s tough trying to qualify for an Olympic place and it’s a big help knowing that they are behind me, helping to raise funds and awareness. It’s also fantastic having a brand new BMW 118d M Sport Convertible.  There’s a lot of traveling to heats, competitions and promotional events so it’s great being able to arrive there in style.”

Ross Daverson, Dealer Principal at Arden Maidstone, said: “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to get really involved with the 2012 Games. Our staff and customers are keen to support London 2012 so we’re really happy to be backing Martin Brockman.
